NEW ALBUM WITH ELIZABETH PRIDGEN, ICONS: PHILIP GLASS, JOHN ADAMS, JOHN CORIGLIANO, OUT NOW ON ORANGE MOUNTAIN MUSIC

December 6, 2022—Renowned violin virtuoso Robert McDuffie is set to tour the eastern United States with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and acclaimed conductor Steven Mercurio next February, performing Johannes BrahmsViolin Concerto in D minor, Op. 77. Highlighted by a performance at New York’s Carnegie Hall on February 16 produced by Artist Management Partners, the tour also includes stops at George Mason University, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark and more. Also in February 2023, the television special “A Night of Georgia Music” featuring Georgia native McDuffie teaming up with longtime friends, collaborators Mike Mills of R.E.M. and Chuck Leavell of the Rolling Stones and The Allman Brothers Band, will be distributed to PBS stations across the country by American Public Television (APT). The performance, recorded live at Macon, GA’s Grand Opera House earlier this year, celebrates some of Georgia’s most beloved musicians with arrangements of songs by Ray Charles, The Allman Brothers Band, Outkast, Gladys Knight and the Pips, The B-52s and more, as well as Mills’ acclaimed Concerto for Violin, Rock Band and String Orchestra, originally commissioned by McDuffie.

McDuffie’s most recent album, ICONS: Philip Glass, John Adams, & John Corigliano, is out now via Orange Mountain Music. The album finds McDuffie and pianist Elizabeth Pridgen performing three masterpieces of the violin/piano repertoire by three of the most celebrated American composers of the past half century: Philip GlassSonata for Violin & Piano, John AdamsRoad Movies and John Corigliano’s Sonata for Violin & Piano. Additionally, McDuffie is set to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Rome Chamber Music Festival, which he initially founded in 2003. The festival runs from June 12-15 at the prestigious Teatro Argentina, located in the historic heart of Rome. This year the festival will present some of the most beloved chamber music works by Mozart, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, Shostakovich, Mendelssohn and John Adams. Additional info and tickets are HERE.

McDuffie notes, “this is an exciting confluence of projects and repertoire that highlight the music that has shaped my life over many years; from the beloved Brahms concerto to the Southern rock of my youth, and especially the American composers with whom I’ve collaborated, whose works have defined this country’s classical music landscape over the last half century.”

Robert McDuffie is the Juilliard-trained, Grammy-nominated violinist who has appeared as a soloist with numerous major internationally-acclaimed orchestras across five continents including the New York and Los Angeles Philharmonics; the Chicago, San Francisco and National Symphonies; the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, the North German Radio Orchestra of Hamburg, Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala and many more. He is the founder of the Rome Chamber Music Festival in Italy, where he was awarded the Premio Simpatia by the mayor of Rome and the Premio delle Muse in Florence. He is also the founder of the Robert McDuffie Center for Strings at Mercer University in his hometown of Macon, Georgia.
